ASEAN Bridge to be toll free, ferry crossings in Miri to have reduced rates

The Chief Minister of Sarawak, Adenan Satem has announced that the abolishment of toll for those using the ASEAN Bridge from 1st June 2015.

The bridge is vital link for Sarawakians wanting to go to Brunei, Limbang, Lawasand Kota Kinabalu RM178 million bridge was officially opened to motorists on Aug 30, 2003. It served as a vital link for those intending to drive from Miri to Brunei, Limbang and Kota Kinabalu.

Previously, Malaysian registered vehicles had to pay 50 sen for motorcycle; RM3 for car (including taxicabs and MPVs); RM5 for van, minibus, pickup truck, SUV and light truck (less than five tonnes); RM8 for bus; RM15 for lorry; and RM25 for trailer when crossing the bridge.

Adenan also announced that ferry crossing at Marudi and Long Lama ferry points would have their rates reduced to RM1 from the current minimum RM10 charged, also beginning 1st June 2015
