The insufficient number of hotel rooms in Kuching City has obtained some ease with the opening of a new hotel located not far from the popular ‘white cat statue’ of Kuching.
LOT 10 Boutique Hotel is was originally the Sarawak Co-Operative Central Bank that was officially opened by Sarawak’s 1st Chief Minister Dato Stephen Kalong Ningkan on Saturday 28th August 1965.
Nonetheless, as the years passed, the building lost its prime days and soon found itself sticking like a sore thumb beside more modern buildings.
In 2013-2014, the whole building obtained major renovation works and was converted into a downtown prevailing chic hotel, now known as LOT 10 Boutique Hotel.
The hotel is located not far from local famed eateries with one of Sarawak’s best Sarawak Laksa stalls just about two minutes away from the hotel (Choon Hui Cafe). This makes a perfect stop for breakfast shall you opt to explore Kuching early in the morning.
Aside from that, a popular Bak Kut Teh shop known as Go Fun Kee Cafe is also nearby (opposite Choon Hui Cafe), hence giving you a nearby place to eat for your lunch and dinner. For those willing to walk a little further, Padungan Street has a huge array of local shops which sell the popular Mee Kolok, Laksa Sarawak and Pork Leg Rice.
A Catholic chapel is also a stone throw away from Lot 10 Boutique Hotel, and numerous attractions of the city are within walking distance, though you may want to take a cab after a while as it is quite a distant to the city centre.
There’s not much night life going around near the hotel, except for the in house ‘THE PIPE’ lounge which serves western cuisine. There is little shopping one can do nearby as the hotel, but there are grocery shops within a 5 minute walking radius.
