The details on the proposed Sarawak Museum Campus and Heritage Trail in Kuching are slowly being revealed and a report by The Star has mentioned quite a bit about the features which will be added to this mammoth RM308mil project which will change the whole landscape of Sarawak Museum’s Dewan Tun Abdul Razak and its surroundings.
According to details Travel.InSarawak.net could gather, the current Dewan Tun Abdul Razak, ancillary office building and exhibition centre would be demolished and be replaced by a world-class museum and an adjoining annex building with a combined floor space of 30,000 sq m.
The annex building will include both an administration area and storage and conservation facilities up to international museum standards.
A heritage trail in centre of Kuching will also be built in which it will combine three existing historical museum buildings with a pavilion.
The older wing of the museum which is located opposite the Dewan Tun Abdul Razak would be retained as it is.
Unofficial word we have received also says that Plaza Merdeka has plans to expand its business region to cover more areas than it currently occupies.
Cahya Mata Sarawak is the main contractor for the project which is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2020.
